The images feature 8-month-old identical twins Benjamin and Zachary Shemenski looking like pint-sized versions of Olympic athletes.
This might very well be the most adorable tribute to the Olympians competing in Pyeonchang at the 2018 Winter Olympics! A mom from Southern California named Meagan Shemenski is working with photographer Genevieve Collins to capture an ongoing photo series featuring her identical 8-month-old twin boys Benjamin and Zachary. Of course, the images are so flippin' cute that they're going viral and making headlines everywhere.
Shemenski tells Parents.com that after doing a "silly Elf on the Shelf" photo shoot with the boys for the holidays, family and friends were demanding more adorableness. "My friend Gen came up with the Olympics, and we got to work on costumes and props right away," she explains. "It was just for fun, but so many people encouraged us to share and tag big names, so we did. Never did we expect Hoda Kotb, the Today Show, and Parents to reach out! What an honor."
The first image features the boys paying tribute to pro-sledder Erin Hamlin on the night of the Opening Ceremony. The image's caption reads: "@erinhamlin is the official flag bearer for @teamUSA tonight but Benjamin is carrying the American flag into our stadium this morning. Benji and Zachary are ready for the Opening Ceremony tonight, are you?"
Shemenski followed that hit up with two more photos this week. One is a tribute to snowboarders Red Gerard and Jamie Anderson, as well as Shaun White, and the other honors Norway's curling team's pants.
The proud mom continues to be floored by the reaction to the sweet shots. "[U.S. snowboarder] Chloe Kim saying she wants our boys to be in her Olympic family on national TV was pretty surreal," she tells Parents.com. "Hearing their names and seeing their faces on TV was just insane!"
Given how utterly charming this photo project is turning out, all the accolades are obviously well-deserved!
