"This is a story about a mom and a dad who went through loss and persistence to get their baby," Rogers explained on Facebook, where she shared the incredible shot. "That tattoo on his chest was done after their first miscarriage, and now his daughter lies her sweet head against it. Both of them a reminder of triumph."
Awww! We love to see a grown man crying over his new baby! And in this case, you can almost FEEL all the love and emotion flowing through those tears as the proud papa cradles his precious little one. Not only is the image a truly beautiful one, but it's also a symbol of hope for other couples struggling with infertility.
So how did Rogers manage to catch such an intimate moment? "I am there for the entirety of the birth for each of my clients and so I have to be ready to capture emotion like this almost before it happens," she explained to Parents.com. "In fact, I anticipate it. As I get to know parents, and their birth history, I am prepared a little for what their story might look like. In this case, this sweet young couple had struggled with infertility and loss, so I knew they would be overcome with joy and relief the minute their baby girl was in their arms."
And get this: Even though labor lasted 40 hours, Rogers says the pair remained very connected during the entire birth.
"To be in the presence of such a supportive partner and strong woman is such an honor," she told us. "I admit that I got choked up a few times as they expressed their feelings about finally having their rainbow baby. This work is so fulfilling. I love what I do."
What a beautiful, inspiring family. Evelyn is one lucky baby to be surrounded by so much love. Congratulations, Maddens!
