In case you fell asleep on the couch at 9:00 like I did, and totally missed watching the big awards being announced at the Golden Globes last night, here's something big you missed. Ryan Gosling won Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical for his turn in La La Land and gave an epic acceptance speech everyone is still talking about.
You can watch the full speech here:
But the gist of it is, he actually talked about his personal life! Okay, there's more. Gosling said that while he was singing, dancing, and having fun making a film, "his lady" Eva Mendes was home caring for their daughter, and pregnant with their second. She was also helping her brother battle cancer.
"If she hadn't have taken all of that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here today other than me," the star added. Then, ready? You're not ready. Gosling looked right in the camera and said, "Sweetheart, thank you."
And America swooned.
Gosling wrapped up his speech, which many are hailing as the true winner of the Globes, by telling his daughters Amada and Esmeralda he loved them. Gosling also humbly dedicated his trophy to Mendes' brother who passed away.
It's okay. You can watch the video of the speech again. We won't judge.
