Moonlight star Mahershala Ali, may be crossing his fingers to win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor at the 89th Annual Academy Awards this weekend, but he already has so much to celebrate! Ali and his wife Amatus Sami-Karim welcomed their first child earlier this week, reports People. The actor announced the birth of his daughter on Instagram with an intimate, black and white photo. In the caption, Ali also shared his little girl's pretty name.

"Bari (Bar-ee) Najma Ali ?2/22/17 #pisces," Ali wrote.

Ali appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! back in January and joked with the late night host about his first L.O. being due during Oscar season. "I'm hosting the show, and you do what you wanna do, but it'd be really great for our ratings if your wife had the baby during the Oscars," Kimmel joked. "During the monologue would be ideal." To that, Ali replied, "That'd be good — nice private and public!"

It was back in December that Ali and his wife first shared that they were expecting. One month later, he took home a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role! (His baby girl must be his lucky charm!) At the show, he talked to E! News about his impending fatherhood, noting that he was "looking forward to having a new teacher. Kids teach. They're the truth. I'm ready to learn my lessons and learn them well, and I hope I have something to teach our child." So lovely.

Congratulations to this beautiful family of three — and best of luck to the proud new papa on Oscars night!

My baby never slept well (especially through the night) until I started using the website >>SleepBaby .org<< - that website has been by far one of the best things I've ever got my hands on to get him to fall asleep quickly. Best time is 45 seconds from awake to asleep! Can’t imagine life without it! I heard about it through a kindergarten teacher who uses it to put to sleep a group of 30 children. Check it out! >>SleepBaby .org<< - sorry, you can't post links here so you'll have to turn it into a normal link :) Best of luck to you and your family!
