Moms Clap Back at Piers Morgan's Twitter 'Man Up' Joke

Piers Morgan made a social media joke about "manning up" after a recent injury. But the moms out there aren't on board with his choice of phrase...

Piers Morgan co-hosted 'Good Morning Britain" despite the fact that he had three broken ribs—and he called attention to that on Twitter. But the moms out there? Well, they weren't impressed.

"For the more fragile snowflakes among you, this is called ‘manning up,'" Morgan wrote of his decision to continue with the co-hosting gig. It may have been a joke, but let's just say this didn't go over well with mothers—because really, the last thing a woman who has endured 24 hours of labor needs to hear is that she ought to "man up," right?

"Try carrying a baby for 10 months WHILE WORKING then giving birth.  #WOmanningUp," one mom replied. Another chimed in with: "And then going back to work after when you're still physically in bits."

Moms also weighed in with labor war stories to make the same point. "One of those kids I literally pulled out of my body and after about an hour of recovery was cleaning the living room I'd just birthed in," one wrote. Another mom added: "Oh whatever. I gave birth with broken ribs. It doesn't take much to sit on a sofa and chat. Do cartwheels and I'll be impressed."

Patricia Arquette threw down as well, writing: "I gave birth with no painkillers. #snowflake #manupman."

And mamas were quick to remind us all that #WomaningUp doesn't end once you leave the delivery room. "@piersmorgan @GMB I took care of a 2 year old with 3 broken ribs, a fractured collar bone and a torn rotator cuff. It's called being a mom," one mom tweeted.

Gauntlet thrown. Now let's banish that outdated and unfair saying, shall we?
