DWTS's Maks and Peta Welcomed a Baby Boy and We're Loving His Name

The star couple has welcomed a son, Shai Aleksander.

Peta Murgatroyd has officially given birth to her first child with fiancé Maksim Chmerkovskiy—a son, Shai Aleksander Chmerkovskiy, welcomed early in the morning on January 4, two days after Peta's due date.

Congrats, guys!

Both Maks and Peta happily shared the baby's name and birth date on Twitter, though so far, no other specifics have been announced.

Awww! We are just loving the name Shai! Usually pronounced "shy," it means "the gift" according to thenamemeaning.com. Too perfect!

And while the Dancing With the Stars couple has yet to give their fans any more recent updates—though they did tell E! News in a statement "This is, without a doubt, the best thing that has ever happened to us!"—they have been generous about sharing their pregnancy journey with fans in the past via belly shots and updates on social media, and they certainly weren't shy about releasing details prior to baby Shai's arrival.

First Maks took to Instagram to share an excited video while en route to the hospital—"Hoping for a very smooth delivery for Peta and hope Maks doesn't pass out!" LOL.

Later, the proud papa-to-be posted a pic of Peta laying in bed in a hospital gown while getting her mascara fix:

Too funny!

And in case there was any remaining doubt about the pronunciation of the new little bundle's unique first name, DWTS host Tom Bergeron cleared it up in a congratulatory post on Twitter:

Shy or not, we can't wait to see a pic of the new tiny dancer!

  1. My baby never slept well (especially through the night) until I started using the website >>SleepBaby .org<< - that website has been by far one of the best things I've ever got my hands on to get him to fall asleep quickly. Best time is 45 seconds from awake to asleep! Can’t imagine life without it! I heard about it through a kindergarten teacher who uses it to put to sleep a group of 30 children. Check it out! >>SleepBaby .org<< - sorry, you can't post links here so you'll have to turn it into a normal link :) Best of luck to you and your family!
