Dove's New Campaign Challenges the 'Perfect Mom' Stereotype
The message behind the brand's new campaign is that everyone parents differently, and there's no such thing as a "perfect mom."
Dove has just unveiled its new line of baby care products—called, fittingly, Baby Dove—and we are just loving the message behind the campaign: There's no right or wrong way to be a parent—only your way.
After conducting an online survey of more than 1,000 millenial moms, the company found that 9 out of 10 feel pressure to be perfect. Whoa! Meanwhile, 84 percent think the stereotype of the "perfect mom" is unrealistic and outdated. And get this: 81 percent said they don't believe they have to give up other interests to be a good parent, and a staggering 94 percent admitted that while they love their babies, they love themselves and many other things as well.
And they should—being a parent is hard, and there is no one right way to do it. Which is why Dove is showcasing all types of different mamas parenting in all types of different ways in its new #RealMoms campaign video.
"There's so many different ways to be a mom," says one new mom/rock climber. "I don't think I could be the mom that I want to be without climbing in my life. It keeps me who I am."
"Do what fits your family," adds a cattle rancher who is raising her son on a farm. "And trust yourself."

The video also features a stay-at-home mom, a single mom, a grad student who's raising her baby with another mom, and a dancer-instructor who lives for her art. None of them are perfect.
