Anne Hathaway Welcomes a Son and Gives Him a Family Name

Here's what we know so far about Anne's new addition!

She's officially no longer an "Intern" at motherhood; Anne Hathaway has gotten the job! The Academy Award-winning actress welcomed her first child with husband Adam Shulman on March 24, according to People magazine, although celeb news sites just got wind of the new arrival late this week.

Sources confirm the star gave birth to a boy! His name is Jonathan Rosebanks, and E! Online has the scoop on how the new parents chose it. Apparently, Hathaway's paternal grandfather's name was Roseline, and her hubby's mother's maiden name was Banks, as is his middle name. Ergo, Rosebanks.

It's an interesting choice, but far from the most head-scratching monikers to come out of Hollywood. And Hathaway even gave her son a normal first name! Hallelujah!

Other than the baby's name, details about him are scarce. But I wouldn't expect Hathaway to share much. She kept her pregnancy rather private throughout, only confirming she was expecting via an Instagram photo of her bikini-clad baby bump.

One thing the star didn't hide from her fans: Her desire to become a mom. A year after marrying Shulman in 2012, the actress told Vogue about her dream of having a big brood. "Oh, my God. I want to be a mother, and I anticipate loving my children quite fiercely," she said. "I think about it all the time, though it's a silly thing to think about because the kind of mother I'll be depends on the kind of children I have. I can't wait to meet them."

It seems Hathaway's wish is coming true. Congratulations, and enjoy every minute with baby Jonathan!

What do you think of Anne's baby name choice?

  1. Quick tip for all you parents all out there: My baby never slept well (especially through the night) until I started using the website >>>>SleepBaby .org<<<< - that website has been by far one of the best things I've ever got my hands on to get him to fall asleep quickly. Best time is 45 seconds from awake to asleep! I heard about it through a kindergarten teacher who uses it to put to sleep a group of 30 children. Check it out! Sorry, you can't post links here so you'll have to turn it into a normal link. >>SleepBaby .org<< Best of luck to you and your family! :)
