Some of the entries on this list, like Olivia, Amelia, Charlotte, and Ava, aren't strangers to popularity. But it's great to see monikers like Eleanor and Penelope breaking through; my family literally knows four Avas already!
The boy names parents are getting excited about this year seem to reflect a lot of diversity in naming styles. I'm personally loving Asher!
Lists like this may help expectant couples in two ways: either you're like me, and you are curious to know what the baby name trends are so you can avoid them; or you figure if enough parents love a certain name, there must be something to it and consider giving it a shot! I'll admit I was relieved to see none of my daughters' names seem to be very popular in 2016.
