If coolness is a factor in your baby-naming decision, you can't get much cooler than naming your kid after a rock-and-roll icon. Of course, many of rock-and-roll's biggest legends have perfectly standard names (George, Paul and John, for instance)—but if you don't want to go for subtlety, these names will definitely stand out in the crowd:
Elvis You can't get much bigger or better than the King of Rock n' Roll himself. Rocker Declan McManus chose this as his stage name (you know him as Elvis Costello), making this name doubly rocking.
Ace This name is currently in the top 600 boys' names, which means there may be an awful lot of KISS fans out there—Ace was the original lead guitarist. Since the name means top-notch, you may love it even if you don't want to rock and roll all night.
Ziggy Sure, this name is also connected to an old comic strip character. But given its association with the legendary David Bowie (Ziggy was his glammed up alter ego during the 70s), and with reggae star Ziggy Marley (Bob's son), it's an intriguing name choice.
Prince Michael Jackson may have given his son this name, but that shouldn't stop you from honoring one of rock's most talented musicians with your name choice (just don't go with his unpronounceable symbol name instead!).
Bowie Another homage to David Bowie—this is a sharp name for your son (it also has an association with a type of fighting knife).
Lennon One half of the creative force behind the Beatles, Lennon was the more avant garde songwriter—and it's a name that's become a popular choice among Beatles fans.
Jagger The surname of the Rolling Stones' legendary frontman is on the rise—and since we're celebrating 50 years with the British bad boys of rock, now may be the perfect time to pick this for your son.
