Two celebs had baby boys this week, with very different "D" names—one super-traditional, one a little more offbeat. Do their names score an A+ in your book, or (yikes!) a D?
First came Dominic James, the son of two-time Survivor contestant Rob Cesternino and his wife Nicole. And then Mark-Paul Gosselaar, best known for playing Zack Morris on Saved by the Bell, and his wife Catriona McGinn had their son, Dekker Edward.
Dominic means belonging to the lord, and it's a top 100 baby name here in the U.S. It comes complete with cute nicknames, like Dom and Nick. And James is a top name—currently at number 14—that means supplanter. Dekker is a unique spelling of the name Decker, which is an occupational name for a roofer. Neither Dekker nor Decker has hit the top 1000. Edward, on the other hand, is still relatively popular—it's a top 200 name that means guardian.
Personally, I'm more of a Dominic kind of baby namer myself. But I agree with Mark-Paul's assessment of the name "Dekker," that "it's different, but not something odd." But which one do you love?
