Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher

It apparently took a little while for Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher to lock down a baby name, but they found a beautiful one! They welcomed Isaiah Michael Fisher to the world last Friday.

Isaiah is an old Biblical name that means "salvation of the Lord," and it's the name of one of the prophets in the Old Testament. It's also become pretty popular lately, steadying out near the top 50 for the past 20 years. Actor Isaiah Washington and a whole slew of NFL players have probably helped catapult that poetic baby name into the popularity stratosphere.

Michael was chosen in honor of Dad—and it's been a longtime favorite, hovering in the top 10 names for the past 70 years. It means, literally "Who is like God?" and is the name of a Biblical angel. There's a whole slew of famous people who bear the name, from athletes to musicians to authors. (But still no president yet!)

In interviews during her pregnancy, Carrie mentioned that they'd had trouble settling on a baby name, and were often joking about names that wouldn't go so well with Mike's surname, Fisher. (I'm thinking things like Marlin, Angel and King were on that list.)

My verdict? I think it's a lovely baby name pick. But tell us what YOU think in the comments!
