I for one ADORE the name Beatrice. (So do Parents.com users -- it has 27 likes in our baby name database.) It's not too popular, but still fits in with the trendy old-fashioned-but-not-stodgy names of today. It also comes with super cute nicknames Bea and -- if you're a fan of the Ramona series -- Beezus. It also sounds nice with big brother Theo's name.
Beatrice's popularity peaked way back in 1910 at number 36. Since then it's moved slowly down the charts, disappearing from the top 1,000 in 1997. It's been rising again in the last few years, and currently sits at number 834. Today's most famous Beatrice is probably Princess Beatrice of York... meaning, it's not that visible right now.
As for the middle name Jean... well, there's nothing too special about it, but it sounds nice with Beatrice and makes a good solid middle name. Put together, the name sounds a little bit country farmgirl to me -- perfect for a little girl who will presumably have red hair like her mother.
What do you think? How do you rank little Beatrice Jean's name?
