The Best British Regency Baby Names Inspired by 'Bridgerton'

If you love Simon and Daphne, you're going to burn for these boy and girl baby names inspired by the cast of characters in Bridgerton. Swoon.

It's a really safe bet that Daphne, Simon, Colin, Penelope, and Eloise will shoot up the baby name charts next year. Why? Because everyone has fallen in love with Bridgerton, the Netflix show based on the popular book series written by Julia Quinn.

Unlike some recent pop culture phenomena that inspired baby names (hello, Game of Thrones), choosing a Bridgerton baby name won't be quite so blatantly obvious. After all, the character names are among the most classic names out there. (If you don't know already know a William, Anthony, or Charlotte, you definitely will once your kiddo hits preschool.)

But if you want to be a little subtle about your baby name inspiration (and don't want your son to be the third Simon in his class), instead of choosing a name straight out of Bridgerton, opt for a name inspired by your favorite character. We tallied up our favorite Bridgerton baby name trends so you can pick the one you're most passionate, and opt for a perfectly lovely alternative pick.

(P.S. You get extra credit if you give your kids alphabetically arranged baby names, like the Bridgertons, or stick with the same initial, like the Featheringtons.)

Very British Baby Names

It's no surprise that a Regency-era novel set in Britain used a lot of names that we'd identify as particularly British. While Nigel may be dinged for its association with Daphne's loathsome suitor, there are plenty of other charming baby names from BridgertonColin, Henry, Will/William, Eloise, and Prudence all fall under the British baby name umbrella.

Floral baby names are perennially popular, and you'll find the start of a lovely garden's worth in the show and books. Daphne's right-hand woman Rose bears the most popular of the lot, but there's also Bridgerton matriarch Violet and youngest daughter Hyacinth in the mix.

Her rival, Cressida, and Featherington ward Marina also have names linked with ancient Greece and Rome. (Marina was an alternative name for the goddess of love, Aphrodite!)
