When can I let my child sleep on a pillow?

Q: When is it safe for my child to use a pillow?

A: Because of concerns about suffocation, pillows are not recommended for use in cribs.  You can have your child start using a pillow when you move him or her to a bed. Before that time, pillows aren’t necessary and young children sleep fine without them.
