Is my baby trying to pull his own teeth out?

Q: My 7-month-old son often seems like he is trying to knock his teeth out! He will take certain toys, put them behind two bottom teeth (the only teeth he has so far), and pull really hard. It concerns me because I'm worried one will actually come out! Am I being paranoid or could he really be strong enough to succeed? Is this normal? Or could there be something wrong?

A: Don't worry.  Babies are very oral, which means they like putting things into their mouths. If the upper teeth are starting to erupt, he may be pulling to relieve throbbing gum pain. He won't be able to pull out his teeth, but just make sure everything that goes in his mouth is safe and not too hard.

  1. My baby never slept well (especially through the night) until I started using the website >>SleepBaby .org<< - that website has been by far one of the best things I've ever got my hands on to get him to fall asleep quickly. Best time is 45 seconds from awake to asleep! Can’t imagine life without it! I heard about it through a kindergarten teacher who uses it to put to sleep a group of 30 children. Check it out! >>SleepBaby .org<< - sorry, you can't post links here so you'll have to turn it into a normal link :) Best of luck to you and your family!
