Suffocation and SIDS are the leading cause of accidental death in babies under 1 year old, yet many parents still put their babies to sleep in unsafe ways. Follow these child safety tips to baby proof your crib and help keep your child safe when you put her to sleep.
[MUSIC] Suffocation is the leading cause of accidental death in babies under the age of one. But there are several things you can do to reduce your baby's risk. Bayer is best when baby is in th crib. All you need is a fitted crib sheet, that's it. There should be no bumpers, stuffed animals, blankets, or pillows. When using video monitors, they shouldn't be where the baby can grab the cords. They should be mounted high on the wall, where the cords are out of the baby's reach. If the baby is able to pull on the cords, it can become a strangulation hazard. Since 2011 there were new safety standards for cribs. So, do buy yours new, to make sure that yours meets those requirements. [MUSIC]
