Hosting a baby shower for a mom-to-be? Consider a whimsical nursery rhyme things foray and impress all your guests with these simple but spectacular cookies. Now, these may look complicated but I assure you, they're not. You don't need to go out and buy especially shaped cookie cutters. You just need round cookie cutters in 3 sizes - mine is about 3 inches, 2 inches and 1 inch. All of the cookies use the same process of royal icing with added [unk] like sprinkles or sugar ice or even chocolate chips. The key to decorating with royal icing is a process known as flooding. You're gonna start with your royal icing in a pastry bag or on a plastic bag with the corners snipped off. You're gonna create a border around the edge of your cookie. The next step is to use royal icing that you [unk] a bit and thinned a bit with water. You can use the tip of the bottle to help spread it to the edges. The border you have from the beginning with the royal icing is what keeps it from dripping down the sides. At this point, you can either add sprinkles into the wet icing so they'll set or you can set them aside and let them dry. It will harden into a nice, smooth finish. The "Three Blind Mice," cookies are really easy. For each mouse, you need 1 large cookie and 2 small cookies. The 2 small cookies get attached to the larger cookie to make the mouse's ears. You just need a little bit of royal icing. I put in mine in white completely. You could do gray, you could do brown - whatever color mouse you want. And then I use pink royal icing just to do the inside of the ears. After that, I attached a large pink sprinkle for the nose and then I used a food save marker to draw on sunglasses and whiskers. So, scurry into the kitchen today and make these cookies.
