-Hi there. I'm Audra Lowe and this is Mom Tales. It's a fun, candid mommy meet-up with my favorite women. And we're talking about those first few years of motherhood along with some great tips for moms to be. Now, our friends and parents created a really cool app. It's available exclusively on the Windows store. It's called Parents Pregnancy and Baby Guide. We're gonna talk about that today and a whole lot more of course. So, come and meet the ladies. Alright. It is time again for Mom Tales. And today, we're talking about body image and those celebrities who make it so difficult for the rest of us regular folks to-- to lose the baby weight after you've had a child. It's really difficult to kind of grasp why people think you can lose the weight just like that. It took what? 9 months to gain the weight. -Yeah. -Right? It's not gonna fall off that easily. Today, we've got 4 lovely ladies here that can teach you on just that and a whole lot more. Talking about that belly bump grow and what we need to tell ourselves to feel good about post-baby bods. We had fun-- -Thanks. -with these topics. -It's fun. -Not always wanting to talk about it, but you think back to your first trimester and I don't know about you, but I don't think that I really could fully grasp just how much my body and mind would change forever and I'm grateful to whoever created the jeans with the elastic bands. I still-- to this day, I still love it. -It's the best. -They are-- -It's been amazing to realize that the change-- some changes are permanent. -Absolutely. They-- -Yeah. -Yeah. -Right. -Even if you lose the weight-- -I think our body comes back in a different way. -They shift. -Yeah. -What was your go-to piece that you used while you were pregnant especially in the beginning when your body started to change? -You know, the one thing that-- that still sort of looked normal to me were my legs. So, I made the most of that and I will wear mini skirts, even a black leather mini skirt-- -Uh-huh. -with an elastic panel in the front and it just made me feel good. -Yeah. I think that's important. -You have to feel good. I mean listen, I wanted to put on my sweatpants and my leggings. I gained 70 pounds. -70 pounds? -Yeah, 70. -It's a little-- -That was in the first 2 trimesters. -With 1 child. -I gained 60. -I was like-- -Wow! -But-- But it was okay. I had fun. -Did you know what to expect or did you have an inkling of what to expect in terms of your body changes especially in that first trimester or was it a complete shock? -I mean I-- I had no idea what to expect. I had no friends who'd been pregnant before-- -Yeah. -so I was sort of the test case for all of my friends. -Uh-huh. -They sort of looked at me like, "Well, that's funny." -Right. -That's funny. -It's interesting. -What is that? -Yeah. -Body-- -The body changes is really one of the most I would say popular topics among moms and I-- I definitely-- as I said before, I wish that I had known a lot more about what to expect during pregnancy, but I think we all do especially after the baby comes because that's a whole another story right there. So, let's go to our app because I know that we've had a chance over the past few days to take a look at the app and I'm gonna hand this-- this tablet over to you just you can refresh yourself once again. So, my son is a year old and I could still be getting information-- -At his milestone. -Right? -Milestones. -Absolutely. We were talking about the baby books-- -Yeah. -Books with post-its in it. -Right. -Who wants to go back to that? -Exactly. -Uh-huh. -And the with baby #2 because you're dealing with baby #1,-- -Right. -you can refresh yourself. -Yeah. You do need to refresh of course. You forget with baby #2 everything. How do you forget? -Uh-huh. -It's like your brain was wiped. -Yeah. You're supposed to forget. Otherwise, you wouldn't have another one. -I do wanna ask you though ladies how you felt about your body after birth? Like were you-- were you so preoccupied that it was something that was right on our mind. Was it-- When someone mentioned it to you, how did you feel? -You have to focus on the positive. And if you feel like you're not losing the baby weight, then do your hair and do your makeup. -Yeah. -You know, focus on what you can control. -I like that. -You have great hair, right? -Yeah. -My hair looked spectacular. -And legs, don't forget to wax. -Uh-huh. -Yeah. Those hormones are really working on the hair. -I think it is important as Alex said, you have to focus on what you feel is your strongest point. -Yeah. -Don't focus on what you think is-- is the negative. -You know, what's weird for me is my belly button an outty and it's still an outty. -Yeah? -Yeah. -I'm an outty now. -It didn't go back? -I have a bummer. I have to-- -Uh-huh. -I can't wear bikini. I can, but like there's the outty there. -[unk] redundant skin. -Like elephant skin. -Redundant. -Redundant. -Like-- Is it elephant skin? -Redundant skin like that. -Yeah. But that-- -You don't wanna know. -Me too. -Wait. Wait. That's a perfect shape-- -[unk] -So, the shape, we've gotta talk about the shape because that is-- Do you-- Do you love it or do you loathe it because-- -Love. -Love. -Okay. But hands down. That's all-- -Why won't people not-- why will they not like it? -I know, right? -Because-- Because they feel constrained kind of? Maybe that. -I don't know, but I think once they try it-- -Yeah, exactly. -You know, I think it's just right. -It's not as bad as a corset. Come on. -Right. Times have changed. -Times have changed and there's a lot of information out there. -Thank you ladies so much. We can go on and on and talk about this all day, which we might afterwards.
