-Lullaby and good night. The sandman is calling-- -A sleep haven. Unfortunately, this is only a dream for too many parents. -Instead of having to live with how you feel in the mattress, you can simply adjust it. -That's why I went to the experts for help. Sleep expert, Pete Bils is not getting enough sleep can be just as bad as carrying around a few extra pounds. -What research is telling us about sleep if you are supposed to be getting 7.5 to 8 hours, but are chronically getting 6 'cause you think you can get by with that. We are now being able to predict medically what's gonna happen to that person and the similarities to being overweight or having a sedentary lifestyle are eerie. They're very similar if health is a triangle, then diet exercise and sleep make up the legs of those triangle with equal importance. -So breathing in and-- -He says the first step to a restful night is making sleep a priority. -Most people know exactly what time they have to get up, so that's not the negotiable or the optional. It's when they go to bed. So, you really have to put a stake in the ground. -And another tip, start a wind down routine and make your bedroom into a sleep haven, that means, no TVs or other electronics in the room. -Preparation for bed is very important and then creating the right environment keeping it dark in the bedroom, nice and cool with minimal sounds if you can. Once you create the conditions for high-quality sleep, it will happen very naturally. But too many of us put barriers in front of that natural sleep and people don't get it. -Sharing a bed can be another problem. Pete Bils says up to 1 and 4 couples sleep in separate beds. -In the comfort of their mattress. It could be the temperature, differences in the room. One likes the TV on and the radio going and the other one can't stand that. -Hey says, one of the biggest problems, couples don't agree on what's comfortable. -Here we have you at the Sleep Number of 100 which is the form of setting on the Sleep Number bed. -That's when he showed me how to find my sleep number on a select comfort mattress. Wow, it's incredible. Each side can be adjusted to personal preferences. I'm ready to go to sleep now. But not so fast, there's one more step. One important part of getting a good night sleep is having a good pillow. I'm joined here by Select Comfort Pillow Expert Lisa Fleek. So it's not only about a great feel but really supporting in aligning your spine. And so that's where we come in with some choices to give you the support you need inside the pillow. And then, that's very important to also prolong the life of that pillow by protecting it. So the third step is choosing that pillow protector. So why don't we kinda talk about today what position do you tend to sleep in? -I think mostly on my side. -Mostly on your side-- -Yes. -Which is a common sleep position. And then what type of pillow do you have today? -A feather pillow. -A feather pillow. And is it a soft feather or is it a firmer feather? -I think medium-- just a normal feather pillow. It's not down or anything. -Okay, it's not down or-- -Lisa helped me pick out a few contenders then I got to give them a try. -Oh, that's really soft. It's very comfortable. Looks like we have a winner. -Great [unk] you've created your perfect pillow and now, remember, proper care if you want a fluffiest pillow every day as well as when you wash your sheets, so wash that protector but only tend to wash your actual pillow once a year. -All right.
