Trimming your baby's nails is definitely easier said than done. Here are some tips on how to give your newborn her first trim.

-Hi, everybody. I'm Julie. Welcome to Baby Basics. Those teeny, tiny fingernails grow so quickly and get very sharp. If you don't cut them often enough, your baby can accidentally scratch herself, and at some point, she probably will. So here's some tips on how to give your new born, her first trim. Trimming your baby's nails is definitely easier said than done. So, it's really best to wait until she falls asleep, so she won't squirm or fuss. Then, get the baby nail clippers and start trimming slowly and carefully. In the first few weeks of life, little nails are thin, bendable and they grow really fast. So, clip them at least once a week. Press the tip of your baby's finger down and away from the nail. And clip straight across, but don't go too low. As your baby grows, plan to trim is needed. And here's one new parent tip, everybody is afraid to trim their baby's nails in the beginning. If you're too nervous to try it, you can use a soft nail buffer to file down the nails a little instead of trimming them. Need more advice on how to care for your new born?
