The fix: You'll never convince a toddler that it's in her best interest to wait while you cook dinner, but you can discourage whining. Since minutes and hours don't mean much to kids this age, explain exactly what has to happen before you can play. If you have several things to do, set a timer so your child can watch the progress. Keep your promise and stop when it goes off.
