Boeing 707-320 Airplane Model. The Boeing 707 transport marks the real beginning of the revolutionary jet age in transportation. T...here were over 900 Boeing 707 commercial transports built. By 1980, the 707 was no longer in production as a commercial transport. Today, many people still consider the terms 707 and jet transport to be synonymous. Boeing developed the 707-320 Intercontinental series, which is a stretched version of the original 707 model with increased range, making it a true intercontinental jet. Boeing 707-320 was a later version of the Boeing 707 series, which had larger wings, and more fuel capacity to operate as a true, transoceanic aircraft. It also had a large cargo door, making it a dual-purpose transport aircraft. Although the Boeing 707 was not the first commercial jetliner in service, it was the first to be commercially successful. Spirit of St. Louis Airplane Model. The Spirit of St. Louis was a custom-built airplane that was flown by Charles Lindbergh. The S...pirit of St. Louis is officially known as the Ryan NYP, designed by Donald A. Hall of Ryan Airlines in San Diego, California. Lindbergh wanted to increase fuel efficiency and he had the opinion that single-engine planes could travel farther and it led to the design of the Spirit of St. Louis, which was one of the most streamlined aircraft at that time. Donald A. Hall decided that the tail and control surfaces would not be altered from his original Ryan M2 design. It resulted in a less stable aircraft, by which the experienced Lindbergh nevertheless approved. There was a dispute about the preference of design since the estimated 40-hour flight would be very challenging in terms of pilot fatigue. Hall and Lindbergh weighed the advantages and disadvantages of the setup, determining that an unstable aircraft would help keep Lindbergh awake and this resulted in a plane with unstable flight characteristics, with a tendency to curve, dip and bank at random times and the cockpit was also purposely uncomfortable, but it was custom-fitted to Lindbergh's tall and lanky frame. Lindbergh also insisted on the elimination of unnecessary weight such as the radio, since it was unreliable at that time. On May 20 and 21, 1927, Spirit of St. Louis, piloted by Lindbergh, made the first non-stop solo transatlantic flight, making him an instant celebrity and media star. He won the $25,000 Orteig prize. Lindbergh subsequently flew the Spirit of St. Louis to Belgium and England before going back to the United States upon order by President Calvin Coolidge. Lindbergh flew the Spirit of St. Louis on promotional and goodwill tours across the United States and Latin America. Spirit of St. Louis' final flight was on April 30, 1928, having flown from St. Louis to Bolling Field, Washington, D.C., wherein Lindbergh presented the historic aircraft to the Smiths Read More

This collectable model P-47B Thunderbolt represents an early the "Jug" ? a tough fighter that began the air war in Europe as a bom...ber escort and later became the primary fighter-bomber of the theater. This 1/32-scale model P-47B Thunderbolt makes a great pilot gift or a present for any veteran, aviation enthusiast or history buff. The P-47 Thunderbolt was one of the largest single-engine fighters of the war, an airframe built around a powerful R-2800 radial engine of 2,500 horsepower. Armed with eight .50-caliber machine guns and able to carry up to 2,500 pounds of bombs or 10 5-inch rockets, the Thunderbolt was fast, tough and effective. The "razorback" P-47 Thunderbolts had a tall fuselage spine behind the pilot, compromising visibility. Later versions featured the bubble canopies, as well as the additional of a dorsal fin to remedy a lateral instability caused by the removal of the razorback. Service deliveries of the P-47 began in 1942, with its first combat mission on March 10, 1943. The Thunderbolt found air-to-air success, with tactics that took advantage of its ability to dive, then zoom-climb to regain energy. The P-47 shot down more than 3,700 enemy aircraft, then struck fear into Wehrmach formations as the ground war in Europe began again in 1944. Its ability to deliver bombs or rockets, as well as being a potent strafing platform severely hindered the movement of German units. The P-47 served briefly with the Strategic Air Command following World War II. A number of P-47 remain flyable, and can often be seen and exhibits and air shows. Read More

B-314 Dixie Clipper PAA Airplane Model. The Boeing 314 "Clipper" is a long-range flying boat produced between 1938 and 1941 by the... Boeing Airline Company. It is one of the largest aircraft at that time using the massive wing of earlier XB-15 bomber prototype. The Boeing 314 uses a series of heavy ribs and spars, creating a strong fuselage and cantilevered wing. It incorporates sponsons into the hull structure. The Pan Am Clippers were built for luxury, a necessity given the long duration of transoceanic flights. Pan American World Airways signed a contract for six Boeing 314 on July 21, 1936. The first 314, the Honolulu Clipper, entered service in January 1939. Pacific Clipper was enroute to New Zealand during the outbreak of war in the Pacific. In June 24, 1939, the Yankee Clipper had flown across the Atlantic on a route from Southampton to New York with intermediate stops at Foynes, Ireland, Botwood, Newfoundland and Shediac, New Brunswick. The Boeing 314 Dixie Clipper is another aircraft operated by Pan Am. It started its transatlantic passenger service in 1939 and was later sold to World Airways. It was scrapped in 1950. P-40B Warhawk as Flown by Tex Hill Airplane Model. The Super Elite P-40B Warhawk was one of the planes used by an American Volunte...er Group known as the "Flying Tigers". The group consisted of United States Army Forces, United States Navy and Unites States Marine Corps. Under a secret presidential sanction, the pilots of the group were recruited by Claire Chennault. They formed a fighter group with three squadrons that were trained in China. The group defended the Burma supply line to China. This happened before the Americans entered World War II to fight against Japan. The P-40B Warhawk was managed and obtained by Chennault as it was in production for British and Americans. The major difference between the P-40B Warhawk and Tomahawk IIB is the P-40B had an exterior fuel tank membrane while the Tomahawk had an interior membrane which is more effective for fuel tank leaks. The P-40B was purchased without gun sights, radios and wing guns. As a result, there was a continual difficulty for the AVG in Burma and China. On the other hand, the good qualities of the Warhawk included the pilot armor, self sealing fuel tanks, sturdy construction, heavy armament and a diving speed that's faster than most Japanese planes. In the year 1941, one hundred P40B aircraft were sent to Burma on third country freighters packed in crates. At Ragoon, the Warhawk was assembled and test flown by personnel of the Central Aircraft Manufacturing Company before they delivered it to the AVG training unit. The P-40B was the first fighter flown in action against the Japanese forces in Burma on March 13, 1941 before the US entered World War II. The Warhawk also played a vital role in the middle stages of World War II. Dimensions: 16"L x 19"W x 7"H Read More

This collectible B-17 represents one of the iconic aircraft of World War II, Boeing's Flying Fortress. This model B-17G shows "Sen...timental Journey," a B-17G owned and operated by the Commemorative Air Force. Out of more than 12,000 B-17s built, only a few are flyable, including Sentimental Journey. Painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen with a wealth of detail, this 1/62-scale model B-17G ? the definitive version of the Flying Fortress - makes a great gift for any pilot, aviation buff or history fan. The B-17 was not the fastest, highest-flying bomber of World War II, not did it carry the largest bomb load. What it could do, and proved it time after time, was take astonishing amounts of damage and return its crew home. While the Flying Fortress served in every theater of the war, it is the missions over Europe that brought the four-engine Boeing lasting fame. The history of the B-17 dates back to 1934, when the Army Air Corps began seeking a replacement for the twin-engine Martin B-10. Boeing developed a four-engine model based on the XB-15 and its Boeing 247 airliner. Competition for the contract came from the Douglas DB-1 and the Martin Model 146, both twin-engine designs. Boeing's Model 299 showed dazzling performance for the time, flying from Seattle to Dayton, Ohio's Wright Field at an average speed of 235 mph, as fast as many fighters of the day. At Wright Field, Army officials set to determine the B-10's replacement with a fly-off between the three contenders. On Oct. 30, 1935, Maj. Ployer Peter Hill, an Air Corps test pilot, along with Boeing test pilot Les Tower took off for an evaluation flight. However, a gust lock had been left on the aircraft, causing a crash on takeoff that killed Hill and Tower. The Model 299 did not complete the evaluation and Army officials ordered Douglas B-18 Bolos as the B-10's replacement. Top Army officials were impressed with the Boeing's performance, and order Read More

Saturn V with Apollo Rocket Model. Saturn V (Saturn 5), America's Moon Rocket, is still the largest and most powerful U.S. expenda...ble launch vehicle ever constructed. The Moon Rocket was designed under the direction of Wernher von Braun at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, with Boeing, North American Aviation, Douglas Aircraft Company, and IBM as the lead contractors. The Saturn 5 was used for NASA's late 1960's / early 1970's Apollo Moon Program and for launching the Skylab Space Station in the 1970's. All Saturn V missions were launched from Launch Complex 39 at the John F. Kennedy Space Center. After the rocket cleared the launch tower, mission control transferred to the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Officials from the Department of the Interior referred to the Saturn V as "a unique engineering masterpiece that formed the key link in the chain that enabled Americans to travel to the moon. The success of the Saturn V made possible the success of the American space program." The Saturn V at the United States Space and Rocket Center was delivered by Marshall in 1969 after all three stages were taken from the Center's Dynamic Test Stand. RQ-4A Global Hawk USAF Airplane Model. The Global Hawk (RQ-4) is a High-Altitude, Long-Endurance Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) used b...y the U.S Air Force. On February 28, 1998, Global Hawk made its first flight from Edwards Air Force Base, CA. The uniquely designed aircraft is one of the primer intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance collection aircraft of the Iraq war. Capable of long endurance missions at 60,000 feet or above, it provides extended coverage, near-real-time multi-sensor support to the theater commander and his deployed forces. The integrated sensor suite consists of SAR, EO, and IR sensors. Each of the sensors provides wide area search imagery and a high-resolution spot mode. The radar also has a ground moving target indicator mode. The Hawk is a relatively large aircraft with a 116 foot wingspan, 44 feet in length, 26,000 pound take-off weight, capable of 30 hour missions with a 3,000 nautical mile range. The Global Hawk is the first UAV to be certified by the Federal Aviation Administration to file its own flight plans and use civilian air corridors in the United States with no advance notice. This potentially paves the way for a revolution in unmanned flight, including that of automatically piloted passenger airliners. The RQ-4A has already been used operationally during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Dimensions: 6.75"L x 6"W x 6"H Read More

Manufactured by Boeing Integrated Defense Systems, the X-45 was a part of DARPA's J-UCAS project. The larger X-45B design was modified to have even more fuel capacity and three times greater combat range, becoming the X-45C. Each wing's leading edge spans from the nose to the wingtip, giving the aircraft more wing area, and a planform very similar to the B-2 Spirits'. The first of the three planned X-45C aircraft was originally scheduled to be completed in 2006, with capability demonstrations scheduled for early 2007. By 2010 Boeing hoped to complete an autonomous aerial refueling of the X-45C by a KC-135 Stratotanker. Boeing has displayed a mock-up of the X-45C on static displays at many airshows. Read More

F-14A Tomcat Airplane Model. The F-14A Tomcat was the United States Navy's primary maritime air superiority fighter, fleet defense... interceptor and tactical reconnaissance aircraft. It was originally designed as the successor of the F-4 Phantom in the fleet defense roll. The aircraft was designed to provide the Fleet with a Mach 2.0 (twice the speed of sound) air superiority fighter capable of fleet defense at both long and short range. The aircraft was the 59th built and the 57th to be delivered to the Navy on February 20, 1974. It first served with the VF-1 "Wolfpack" aboard the USS Enterprise from May 1974 through July 1976. During this time, the aircraft flew missions during a WestPac cruise under the code name Operation Frequent Wind, the evacuation of Saigon, South Vietnam. This makes the Tomcat a true Vietnam veteran. The F-14A Tomcat was transferred to the training squadron VF-124 "Gunfighters" in July of 1976 where it spent approximately 1 year. In June of 1977, it was transferred to VF-2 "Bounty Hunters", the sister squadron to VF-1 aboard the Enterprise again. While it was with the VF-2, this aircraft also flew off the USS Ranger and USS Kitty Hawk. The Tomcat's combat initiation occurred in a successful encounter with Libyan Air Force Sukhoi Fighters in August 1981. The F-14 has undergone considerable upgrading and modification during its life and has been continuously tested at Patuxent River since 1972. The mission expansion of this aircraft includes tactical air reconnaissance and delivery of laser guided air-to-ground weapons and it also ensures the Tomcat's value to the Fleet well into the 21st century. Operators: U.S. Air Force Time in operation: 2005-present Post-World War II era Manufacturers: Lockheed Martin, Boeing IDS Length: 19.25 inches Wingspan: 13 inches Description The F-22 Raptor is, as of 2009, the most modern fighter in operational service. It is more advanced than any other operational aircraft in many ways, including upgraded detection capabilities and vectored thrust maneuvering. The F-22's biggest achievement may be its stealth capabilities, something previously limited to bomber aircraft. The Raptor has an incredibly small radar profile, allowing it to sneak past potential hostile defenses, but this necessitates an internalized weapons rack that decreases total payload, and the stealth construction increases maintenance requirements. Cost and design aside, the F-22 has proven itself extremely useful in both real-word and simulated combat exercises. U.S. stealth air superiority fighter Jet engine aircraft, two engine Painted plastic construction Scale: 1/48 Operators: U.S. Air ...Force Time in operation: 2005-present Post-World War II era Manufacturers: Lockheed Martin, Boeing IDS Length: 15.25 inches Wingspan: 11.25 inches Description The F-22 Raptor is, as of 2009, the most modern fighter in operational service. A painstakingly detailed finish and quality construction make this model of the most modern fighter to date a must-have for any collector. About Toys and Models Corporation Since 1982, Toys and Models has created exquisitely detailed, historically accurate replicas of aircraft. New technology and materials combined with painstaking detail ensure that when you purchase a model from Toys and Models, you'll admire it for years to come. Originally built in 1925, the Ford Trimotor is one of the most iconic early American aircraft ever produced. While the Trimotor it...self was technically a success, the Ford Company did not actually make a profit in the aviation sector, though the aviation sector certainly profited from the credibility that Ford's proven reputation provided. More than 100 airlines around the world operated Ford Trimotors, and the U.S. military utilized the craft heavily during the 1920s. The Trimotor was heavily involved in the pioneering days of aviation history, being involved in a number of historic acts including the first trans-polar flight, the first use of an aircraft in a U.S. presidential campaign, and being the tanker in the first mid-air refueling. The historic Ford Trimotor is modeled here in its 5-AT variant, in the livery of American Airlines. Tremendous attention to detail and superb construction make this model a must-have for any aviation enthusiast. Read More

The MiG-29 was given the reporting name of Fulcrum by NATO, and both NATO and non-NATO organizations use the name. This prolific and important aircraft is modeled here to exacting detail in a high-quality, handcrafted model that will shine in any collection. Read More
