Since The North Face Women's Aleutian 20 Degree Synthetic Sleeping Bag has a roomy mummy cut and a zipper that lets you turn it in...to a blanket you can keep it zipped to stay warm on late-fall camping trips and you can unzip it for a bit of warmth on summer nights under the stars. The quick-drying synthetic insulation contains 30% post-consumer recycled material so you don't have to choose between staying warm and being green. Comfort-rated to 20F, with a lower limit of 8F, the Aleutian lets you sleep shiver-free from mid-spring to late fall. While a night spent outdoors in single-digit temps might sound possible, you'll want to have a thermal bag liner with you to pair with the Aleutian. Heatseeker Eco synthetic insulation minimizes heat loss, and the draft collar reduces the heat escaping from around your shoulders. The mummy cut is generous so have ample room to flip and flop throughout the night. You can enter this bag from either the left or the right side, and the long side zipper that goes all the way around the wraparound toe box turns it into a blanket if you want to share warmth with another in your tent. Short of actually knitting yourself a sweater out of bobcat fur, there's no better way to stay warm on summer nights than The Nort...h Face Lynx 40-Degree Synthetic Sleeping Bag. One of the lightest, most packable synthetic summer bags on the market, the Lynx is EN-rated to keep you easily comfortable to 47 degrees, and won't have any issues if temps drop down into the 30s. How? The North Face's Heatseeker Pro insulation sandwiches super-compressible synthetic between layers of rugged filament, providing serious levels of warmth and packability without adding extra weight. The mummy design is ultra-efficient, too, cutting down on material while maintaining warmth, making the Lynx a top-shelf summer backpacking bag. Of course, it'd all be for naught if your bag got wet, right? Not quite. Synthetic insulation stays warm even if it gets wet, so damp nights won't necessarily be sleepless ones. There's also a draft hood and collar to seal out cold air, a snug hood to trap heat around your head, and loops to keep your bag securely attached to your sleeping pad. Even the zippers are designed to be snag-free, and have glow-in-the-dark pulls for enhanced awesomeness. Read More

Alaska's renowned for having some pretty gnarly weather, but even its worst spring, summer, and fall storms are no match for The N...orth Face Aleutian 20 Degree Synthetic Sleeping Bag. It's jam-packed with synthetic, 30% recycled Heatseeker Eco insulation, so those soggy coastal storms won't sap your bag's warmth, and has a roomy cut so claustrophobia will never keep you from sleeping comfortably. In fact, it's designed with a wrap-around footbox zipper so you can unzip the whole bag and use it as a comforter, if that's what the temperatures call for. Of course, if it is cold, you'll be all about the warm-air-trapping draft collar and snug hood. Read More

There's a reason The North Face's Cat's Meow 20-Degree Synthetic Sleeping Bag has been a classic for years: it boasts an unbeatabl...e combination of warmth, durability, light weight, and compressibility, at a price that seems like it should get you maybe two of those things. No wonder it's a favorite of three-season backpackers, campers, and mountaineers. Synthetic insulation will never be as light or as packable as down, but what it sacrifices in weight, it more than makes up for in durability and wet-weather performance. The North Face used two different kinds of Heatseeker Pro synthetic in the Cat's Meow to achieve the ideal blend of warmth and compressibility, and the bag's mummy design increases warmth while decreasing weight and size. You'll stay comfortable down to 20 degrees even if your bag gets soggy, and a shaped hood, collar, and no-snag draft tube seal in warm air while keeping drafts at bay. There are pad loops, too, so you can make sure you don't slip off your sleeping pad in the middle of the night and wake up with a root sticking up your nose, and even an internal pocket to hold stuff (or things, if you prefer). Great for occasional warm-weather car camping or short backpacking trips in mild weather, the North Face Dolomite 40-Degree Synthe...tic Sleeping Bag blends value with ample comfort. The Dolomite is great for casual campers who like a roomy, rather than a restrictive, bag. Its rectangle shape gives you more room than narrower mummy bags, or you can unzip the sleeping bag all the way around the toe box and lay it flat like a blanket. Though it's designed for casual use, the Dolomite is still packed with technical features that optimize your comfort. Both the outer fabric and lining are water-resistant to protect both you and the bag from heat-robbing moisture. The Heatseeker Eco synthetic insulation is made of 30% recycled material, is highly compressible for easy packing, and more durable than other synthetic insulations. The North Face has accomplished this through a unique dual-layer construction that features an inner layer designed for maximum compression balanced by an outer layer for durability so the insulation doesn't get overly compressed and lose its effectiveness after one season. The top of the sleeping bag is optimized for warmth and durability, and the bottom of the sleeping bag is designed to keep the insulation in place to prevent cold spots. Offset stitching between the layers of insulation helps keep warm air trapped inside. The Dolomite is outfitted with a convenient, non-snagging two-way zipper (nice if you prefer some fresh air around your feet on warmer nights), and the zipper pull glows in the dark to make unzipping in the middle of the night or before dawn less of a hassle. The sleeping bag compresses down to a 9x17-inch size for easy packing. Read More

The North Face made the shell out of a durable polyester taffeta with a water-resistant coating to keep wetness at bay, and a softer taffeta lining is sure to keep your trooper nice and cozy all night long. An offset quilt construction traps warmth and prevents heat loss so your child doesn't feel a chill throughout the night, and the tapered rectangle shape helps retain heat like a mummy-bag design without limiting mobility so your wiggling dreamer can sleep soundly. On day 15 of your Himalayan adventure, you realized that tracking down the elusive snow leopard for your magazine's photo spread w...ould prove more difficult than anticipated. It's a good thing that you brought along The North Face Snow Leopard 0-Degree Synthetic Sleeping Bag--loaded up with synthetic Heatseeker Pro insulation, it'll keep you easily comfortable down to 18 degrees, and relatively fine all the way to zero. You probably wouldn't want to use it alone on a 20,000-foot peak in a blizzard, but in alpine basecamp or lower-elevation winter settings, you're golden. Even if it gets wet, the Heatseeker Pro will keep you warm--something down won't do--and the whole thing will pack down smaller than any super-warm synthetic bag has any right to do. Even though the Snow Leopard's certifiably lightweight, it's stuffed full of features that'll have you using it even if you're in your own bed at home. The shaped hood, draft collar, and draft tube seal in the warm air and lock out the cold, and the anti-snag zipper (yeah, it has a glow-in-the-dark pull) will make getting in and out of your bag hassle-free. You won't wake up frozen on the floor, either, since the Snow Leopard has loops that hold your sleeping bag in place, and an internal pocket that'll keep any small things--lucky charms, midnight snacks, or shiny pebbles--close by while you're snoring. Ever rigged your bed on little skis and pulled it behind you into the backcountry so you didn't have to use a crappy sleeping bag?... That's admirably dedicated, and a whole lot crazy, but check this out: The North Face Aleutian 0-Degree Synthetic Sleeping Bag unzips completely flat, so you can have the warmth of an 15-degree EN-rated bag when things are freezing, and the coziness of a comforter if the night's a little bit warmer than that. It's also full of synthetic Heatseeker Eco insulation, which is made of 30% recycled material, and keeps you warm even if it gets wet, which is something down won't do. The Aleutian isn't a super-light backpacking bag, but it still has a draft-defeating collar and roomy mummy design to reduce weight while maximizing warmth, so you'll sleep better in the mountains than you ever did in your own bed. The North Face Women's Cat's Meow 20 Degree Synthetic Sleeping Bag is just the kitty you want to cuddle at night when you're on a ...late-fall paddle through the Boundary Waters or on an extended tour of upper reaches of the Italian Alps. Made using Core Series construction, this bag bathes your tired limbs in layers of warmth for a good night's sleep when the mercury dips. Two different layers of Heatseeker Pro synthetic insulation keep you cozy when temperatures fall, though you might want a bag liner if you're flirting with the bottom limit of a frigid 12F. This two-tiered approach to insulation maximizes compression without sacrificing warmth or durability. By using off-set baffling to keep the shorter synthetic fibers close to your body and the longer continuous filament fibers closer to the bag surface, the Cat's Meow stays purringly warm even after years of abuse. The women-specific shape on this mummy bag puts more insulation around your chest and feet and takes away the extra bulk around your hips and core for a supremely comfortable night's sleep. The shaped hood and draft collar limit the amount of heat that escapes from your head and neck in the middle of the night. Internal hand-warmer pockets mean you don't have to wear mittens to bed. Attach your pad to the bag via attachment loops so you don't slip off in the middle of the night. Whether you're out exploring remote corners of the world or trying to stay warm until the HVAC repair can show up, the Cat's Meow 20F offers hairball-free warmth. Read More

When the whole family is ready to hit the trail but the youngsters aren't quite ready to lug their own tents around, The North Fac...e Talus 4 Four-Person Three-Season Tent is ready to pick up the slack. At under seven pounds, putting in squarely in the superlight category, you wouldn't think the Talus is a spacious, family-friendly shelter, but it's designed to be equally at home car-camping as it is heading out on the trail for days at a time. Both the fly and floor are coated with waterproof polyurethane and fully taped, and there are polyester mesh panels on the canopy to let air in and let you look at the stars when the weather's nice. The Talus also uses The North Face's High-Low ventilation system, which has a vent to keep air moving even when the fly's on, and a gear loft and footprint are included to make life on the trail, or next to the car, that much easier. As a final touch, there's an external Gear Locker that provides plenty of space for wet, muddy gear, so your sleeping space can stay clean and comfortable until it's time to head back home. The North Face 3-Person 3-Season Talus 3 Tent is both light on your back and your budget so you can splurge on odor-resistant undi...es and socks before hitting the trail with your two best friends. This well-ventilated mobile home tips the scales at a mere 5lbs 6. 7ounces and still offers the convenience of double doors and double vestibules. Even if your best buds are of the four-legged variety, there's room enough for all three of you, plus a few extra rawhides. The nylon bathtub-style floor won't let ground moisture seep through due to the 3000mm PU coating. And since it's treated with 1200mm PU, the polyester fly won't let a midnight drizzle drench your sleeping body. If quick and light is more your speed during the summer, take only the fly, the ground tarp, and the DAC featherlight NSL poles for a breezy, lightweight shelter. High-low ventilation combines a mesh vent on the top with side vents for cross-tent airflow to minimize condensation build-up throughout the night. A Gear Loft comes with the Talus so your headlamp won't go missing in the middle of the night. Also included are guylines, stakes, stuff sacks, and the ground tarp so you can spend your hard-earned dollars on other camping gear, like a lightweight summer sleeping bag. Read More

If you're really serious about saving money, you can just sell your house and have the family live in the North Face Kaiju Six-Per...son Three-Season Tent from The North Face. There might be a few things about a brick-and-mortar home that you'll miss, but really, with space to stand up, 10 pockets, and a hanging tablet display system, the Kaiju has most of the creature comforts you're all used to. It certainly offers more air circulation than your old home, with mesh doors and ceiling panels, and has plenty of weather protection, with a full-coverage rain fly, two vestibules, and a convertible sunshade for hot summer days. And, while a new house takes month to build, the Kaiju has a simple three-pole setup that'll have you ready to go in minutes--there's even a foot wiper to keep mud out, and hanger loops to help the family keep their new abode neat and organized. When the only storm clouds in sight are in your living room as the unrelenting heat of summer takes it toll, grab The North Face 2...-Person 3-Season Stormbreak 2 Tent, load up the coolers, and hit the road in search of relief from summer in the city. This two-person tent lives and breathes to help you and a friend escape the concrete jungle on the weekends and occasionally enjoy a more lengthy sojourn in the woods. With two doors and two vestibules, space inside and out won't be what threatens the peace--try several days of freeze-dried meals and a small space and see what happens. Lightweight and breathable polyester taffeta makes this tent ideal for late spring through early fall trips. The fly is coated with 1200mm PU and the floor has a 3000mm PU coating so a mid-summer sprinkle doesn't thoroughly soak you or your gear. Polyester no-see-um mesh high and low lets air flow freely through the tent to minimize condensation and keep things civil between you and your slightly stinky camping pal. Two doors and two vestibules mean the only boots you'll trip over on your midnight bathroom break are your own. The easy-pitch design means you can get the tent ready while someone else does the dishes. Ample headroom lets both of you sit up without having the feeling of being in an awkward romantic comedy. If accessories abound, think about investing a Gear Loft, sold separately. If you're fleet on your feet and don't want the excess weight of the tent body, buy the ground tarp (sold separately) to have the Fast-Pitch option available. Read More

The North Face 2-Person 3-Season Talus 2 Tent shields you against things that go bump in the night from early spring to late fall,... and it protects your bank account from overpriced outdoor gear. Whether you're solo car camping and want the extra space or you're backpacking with your camping comrade, this little number is big on space and ventilation. The rear gear locker and included Gear Loft help organize your gear when you're bedding down for the night. Robust 70D nylon on the floor keeps ground moisture at bay with a 3000mm PU coating. The fly is made from sturdy 75D polyester and then coated with 1200mm PU to repel water. Hot and dry nights mean you can ditch the tent and save some weight by using the Fast-Pack option: fly, pole, and ground tarp only. While the full tent only weighs 5 pounds, the Fast-Pack option is a mere 3lbs 2oz, so you can use those two extra pounds for important things, like chips and cookies. High-low ventilation in the tent body blends mesh with solid panels to maximize cross-tent airflow, minimize condensation, and reduce the chances of unpleasant odors lingering throughout the night. While only one entrance exists to this two-person tent, the fly hides extra storage space at the back of the tent. You can access this nifty gear locker from inside the tent so muddy boots and wet packs don't make the vestibule impassable. Read More

Tadpoles are small, slimy, and froggy, but The North Face Tadpole 2 Two-Person Three-Season Tent doesn't necessarily share those c...haracteristics. While we can't speak to its sliminess or frogginess, it's definitely the opposite of small, having been redesigned with Reverse Combi poles, which are wider at the roof and narrow at the floor to provide more space without increasing weight. Extra space doesn't mean extra effort, either, as the Tadpole's trail weight is under four pounds so it's easy to use on backpacking trips as well as close-to-home camping excursions. If durability's what you're after, the Tadpole's tougher than a full-grown frog. It's made of PU- and silicone-coated nylon ripstop, and even the ventilating mesh is made of tough, long-lasting nylon. The fly, too, is full nylon ripstop, and the whole package has fully taped seams to make sure no sneaky moisture finds its way through--the fly even has The North Face's High-Low ventilation system, which lets you keep air moving through the tent even with the fly on and vestibule sealed. With hubbed poles, setup's easier than sleeping, and a handy internal hang loop lets you stay organized, whether you're dug in for a week or moving your campsite nightly. Read More
