Signature Design by Ashley
Carlyle Weinberger founded Ashley Furniture as a sales organization in 1945. In 1970, the company opened a factory specializing in tables and wall systems. Today, Ashley Furniture -- owned by father-and-son team Ron and Todd Wanek -- makes furniture and home accents for the livin
g room, bedroom, dining room, and home office.
In the mid 1980s, the company shifted from making heirloom pieces to producing furniture for middle-income consumers, and it began distributing its products through mass retailers such as Sears and Kmart. The company's signature pieces are in its Millennial Line, which carries black or emerald-green furniture in a lustrous polyurethane finish.
The company is actively involved in many charities and sponsors Ashley's Angels, which has generated more than a million dollars in donations to provide food, clothing, blankets, and gifts to kids in need. With the help of donations from Ashley Furniture, Ron Wanek also designed and built Memorial Park in Arcadia, Wisconsin -- where the company is based -- to honor soldiers who have served in wars throughout America's history.
