Load up the Mammut Trion Pro 50+7 Backpack before embarking on an ambitious big-wall ascent or alpine climb. This lightweight, mad...e-to-move pack boasts the intuitive design and features you need to play it safe and smart while adventuring at altitude, and it accommodates all the hardware you need to navigate an ice flow broken by granite outcroppings. The Motion Butterfly DLT suspension spreads the load evenly across the high-density EVA foam back panel, shoulder straps, and hip belt, while the front and side compression straps lock your load down to prevent moving when you're covering ground or packing away the vert. Mammut made the Trion from water-resistant nylon fabrics, so your gear won't get soaked in a shower, and made the Trion compatible with hydration reservoirs, too, so you don't get dehydrated on your alpine missions. While it carries comfortably, it's unmistakeably an alpine pack, and it has features you'd expect like a webbing hip belt that can be used in place of the padded offering, a top rope strap to secure your line, and a removable, seam-taped lid that you can take off to lighten your load. There are also two secure ice-axe carriers, sky carry options, and gear loops to accommodate whatever gear you need for your current climb, so you're never caught out by the changing conditions that are a feature of alpine environments. Designed to increase your odds of survival in the event of an avalanche, the Mammut Ride On RAS Backpack reduces your chance of a ...full burial with the help of the proven Snowpulse Airbag Technology. The Ride On also features Mammut's RAS (Removable Airbag System) so you can exchange the airbag system between different RAS-compatible Mammut packs, depending on the day's objective. Activation of the system is simple: you pull on the handle, which is attached to the cable, which attaches to the RAS. (The deployment handle can be stowed away within a zippered pocket located on the shoulder strap when you're not wearing the pack.) When you pull the deployment handle, the compressed air cartridge opens and air flows through the valve into the airbag. The bag also draws ambient air into the bag, resulting in 150 liters of air for flotation. The process takes around three seconds to complete. Increasing your surface area with the air bag naturally pushes you to the top of the slide, reducing the chance of a full burial. The Ride On comes equipped with everything you'll need for a full day in the backcountry. The large front pockets hold a shovel, probe, rutschblock cord, and snow study kit, as well as an extra midlayer. A top padded goggle pocket protects your goggles safe on the skin up, and the hydration sleeve lets you bring your hydration bag along for the ride. A front sleeve holds a helmet, and two compression straps along the front let you secure your load. An ice tool loop is located at the bottom, and poles can be carried vertically along the front of the pack. Skis can be carried diagonally, and snowboards can be carried vertically, and the thermoformed back panel keeps everything comfortable both on the skin up and the ski down. The compressed air cartridge is sold separately, but may be refilled after use. Airline travel with cartridges is restricted, but locations of rental shops for the cartridges are listed on Mammut's website. The Snowpulse Airb... Read More

Skis, boots, poles. Helmet, goggles, gloves. Beacon, shovel, probe. There are some things you don't head into the mountains withou...t, and it's time to update your list to include the Mammut Ride RAS Backpack. Airbag technology has been proven to save lives, and when it's also as light, functional, and easy to use as the Ride? Well, you'd have to have a really good reason to leave it behind. Obviously, the safest policy is to avoid avalanches altogether, but unexpected things happen, and when they do, the Ride can inflate within three seconds to help keep you on the surface. Just pull the shoulder-mounted deployment handle to inflate the bag, and the padded waist belt, safety leg strap, and sternum strap will keep the pack securely attached to you, even in the turmoil of a slide. After deployment, deflate the bags and pack them back up according to instructions, and remember that the compressed air canister needs to be replaced. You can even remove the airbag system entirely if you want a lightweight in-bounds pack, or swap it between all RAS packs to fine-tune your carrying capacity. The Ride wouldn't be that useful if it wasn't a functional pack, too, so Mammut made sure it had all the features of a modern freeride pack, like ski and snowboard carry systems, a special pocket for your avy tools, and gear loops for ice axes and ski poles. You can cinch down your day's load using the side compression straps, stash your goggles in the padded pocket for safekeeping, and toss a bladder in the hydration-compatible sleeve so you don't have to gobble snow all day. All this weight is carried comfortable by the V-frame aluminum suspension, padded back panel, and removable waist belt. Mammut even included an SOS label with emergency instructions, in case you need a reminder. Please note that this system does not include the Refillable Compressed Air Cartridge, which is available separately (MAM0939).
