French designer Marcel Rochas founded Rochas in 1925. Rochas today is a fashion, beauty, and perfume house owned by Procter & Gamble. Fashion designer Olivier Theyskens was named the company's creative director in 2002 and debuted his line there in 2003. Many celebrities, inc... Theyskens opted for a "demicouture" approach, making special pieces too costly to mass-produce but that didn't meet the "couture" qualifications regarding hand-stitching and number of fittings. Some of his gowns cost more than $20,000 and were out of reach for most consumers. Procter & Gamble discontinued this fashion line in 2006. Marcos Zanini came on board as the new fashion director for Rochas and showed his first collection during Paris Fashion Week in February 2009. Zanini aims to renew the brand, with a greater emphasis on ready-to-wear pieces. The company is also known today for its perfumes, including its signature plum-peach-musk scent, Femme, packaged in a recognizable pink box with black lace.
