The First Years Breast-Milk Storage
New moms use breast pumps to express milk for times when they are away from Baby. To store the milk, use BPA-free plastic bottles or double-zip storage bags specifically designed to preserve breast milk's nutrients. As a rule of thumb, you can store fresh breast milk in an insulated cooler bag for up to 24 hours and in a refrigerator for up to five days. Milk also can be frozen from two weeks to a year, depending on the freezer's type and model.
