Created by Pleasant Rowland in 1986 and based in Middleton, Wisconsin, American Girl is best known for its lifelike dolls meant to evoke various periods in history. After a trip to Colonial Williamsburg, Rowland was inspired to explore her passion for history and share it with yo
ung girls by designing dolls based on historical characters from many different eras. American Girl also makes books, accessories, clothes, and furniture, and hosts events such as high tea at its in-store cafes sprinkled across the country. The company has also released a handful of American Girl movies.
In addition to dolls and their corresponding products, American Girl oversees a craft line called American Girl Crafts. One offering in this line, the Letters & Frames Garland Kit, comes with an idea book, ribbon, chipboard flowers, and glittery frames and alphabet stickers. Reversible designs make mixing and matching easy.
To add a bit of pizzazz to a paper project, try the American Girl Butterfly Petite Punch to punch out shapes for scrapbook pages, cards, and drawings, and use the scraps as fun confetti. Jewelry fans can have fun with the Berry Stretchable String, which is perfect for stacking beads. At 12 yards, the stretchy pink elastic is long enough to make bracelets for plenty of young friends.
