Cinnamon Wheels

Ingredients

  • 1/4 ounce package yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
Filling:
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
Icing:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 20 colorful straws

Make It

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside.

3. In a large bowl mix milk, sugar, butter, salt and egg. Add the yeast mixture and the flour.

4. Knead dough on a floured surface for a few minutes.

5. Place in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap and leave for 1-1/2 hours.

6. Roll it out on a floured surface to a 10x15 rectangle.

Filling:

7. Mix together butter, cinnamon and sugar and spread the mixture on the dough.

8. Roll dough into a long sausage shape. Cut 20 slices. Place each slice in a greased mini-muffin cupcake pan and bake for 8 minutes. Cool on wire rack

Icing:

9. For icing, mix powdered sugar and water. Drizzle on each pinwheel.
