The Danger:
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking and potentially seriously injuring the passenger seat occupant or other occupants. This recall addresses both the passenger side frontal air bags that were originally installed in the vehicles, as well as replacement air bags that may have been installed as replacement service parts.
The recall includes 226,326 model year 2002-2003 Nissan Maxima, Pathfinder and Infiniti I35 and QX4; 2002-2004 Nissan Sentra and 2003 Infiniti FX vehicles.

What To Do:
Dealers will inspect vehicles, and where a defective air bag inflator is identified, the inflator will be replaced. For more information, call Nissan customer service at (800) 647-7261.
