The car seats were manufactured with a square hole located on the left side of the car seat shell near the edge of the seat pad. Children may stick their fingers in the hole and may be injured.
Description:
The recall includes 18,586 Cosco Alpha Omega car seats (model numbers 22150 and 22151) and Eddie Bauer leather 3-in-1 car seats (model number 22770). Only those seats manufactured between October 1, 2005, and December 31, 2005, are affected by this recall. The model number and date of manufacture may be found on a sticker located on the side or back of the car seat.
Dorel Juvenile Group USA will mail a free repair kit along with complete instructions to all registered owners. The repair kit consists of two heavy black labels that should be placed over the hole in the car seat shell. The repair kit was designed to cover the opening and thereby prevent any possible injury to small fingers. If you have not registered your car seat, contact the company at (877) 639-0659 or visit www.djgusa.com.
You should continue to use the existing seat while waiting to receive and install the repair kit. This issue does not affect the performance of the car seat in the vehicle. Just be mindful of the hole in the car seat and discourage children from placing their fingers inside.
