The Danger:
The formulas may contain beetles and/or their larvae. Ingestion of beetle parts may irritate a child's GI tract and cause a child to experience gastrointestinal discomfort, which may lead to refusal to eat.
Description:
This recall involves certain Similac-brand powder formulas that were sold in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam, and some countries in the Caribbean. This recall includes certain Similac powder product lines sold in cans (such as 8-ounce, 12.4-ounce, and 12.9-ounce cans) and plastic containers. To find out if a product that you possess is included in this recall, visit similac.com/recall, and type in your lot number. No Abbott liquid formulas were impacted. Products not involved in this recall include all Abbott Nutrition liquid ready-to-feed and concentrated infant formulas and all powder and liquid specialty formulas.
