Flatulence

Talk about embarrassing pregnancy problems ... flatulence is at the top of the list for many expectant women.

Hormones such as progesterone enable your body to expand as your baby grows. Unfortunately, those hormones also slow the rate at which food moves through your digestive system. This can result in heartburn, constipation, and most embarrassing of all, flatulence.

Passing gas during pregnancy is normal and shouldn't be treated with over-the-counter anti-gas medications. Avoiding gas-producing foods such as beans and cabbage can help; so can eating small meals rather than large feasts. Don't fret too much if you pass gas in the company of other people. Anyone who has had a baby understands what you're going through.
