Question

I'm 13 weeks pregnant and I work in a nursing home, where I often have to lift patients. Can this be harmful?

Answer

Most women can continue their same activities during pregnancy. I once had a labor nurse moving pregnant women until the day she delivered.

However, if you are having pain when you have to strain at work, then discuss this with your physician and they may be able to put you on light duty. Most women do not need to decrease their usual exercise or work activity if their pregnancy is uncomplicated.
