Nearly all pregnant women get an "outie" navel during pregnancy- but in a few cases, the navel protrudes so much that it is considered a rupture, or "umbilical hernia." This condition, which also occurs in newborns and young children, rarely cause problems or requires surgery.

Did you get to see the specialist? What did they reccommend? I am 28 wks pregnant and am in much pain from my umbilical hernia. I have a 14 month old daughter & developed the hernia while pregnant with her I guess, but it never bothered me. I didn't even notice it until after she was born, when my doctor pointed it out. I then surprisingly became pregnant again 8 mos later, and boy is it hurting me now!!!!! I guess I will need to have it repaired eventually, after this baby.....
