What the Old Wives' Tales Say About Whether You'll Have a Boy or a Girl

mine are mixed some say boy some say girl. which do i believe? the chinese says girl the other says boy and the wise tales are a mix up of the 2... which is it?

My first three pregnancies ended with all girls. I had monring sickness with all of them as well as swelling. However, my diet with all of them was different. This is my forth pregnancy - unexpected - I am exhausted, fatigued, no sickness, dizzy, lightheaded, and feel like I have been "drinking" which I haven't. I am 6 weeks - measuring larger at 9 weeks. Been told that my s/sx conclude twins - but I am not sure. I will be having my first US in 2 weeks. Any suggestions? Gender(s)?

alot of this methods leads to say im having a girl. im always moodie always getting morning sickness all day. and i have alot of people tell me im having a girl.

im 16 weeks preg and it said i am having a girl but i dout it cuz ive yet to through up at all its my first baby and everything seems ok the heart beat went from 167 to 156 and none of the old wives tales worked for me only becuz my sytoms are mixed either way i dont care so long as its healthy

lol this is so wrong. i have a little girl and during my pregnancy with her my skin never broke out, i had absolutely NO nausea the entire pregnancy, i didn't gain any weight in my face (btw, i'm in nursing school and weight gain in the face is NEVER good = PIH), my left boob is/was bigger, i carried in the front and she was low. old wives tales are something that nobody should ever rely on! unless my daughter is the only one to defy all these "rules" lol.

I never got sick hardly with my daughter...But I am 12 wks and have been going thru the all day sickness! And always heard the 2nd baby, you carry lower. So every pregnancy is different. Its impossible to tell if your having a boy or a girl.

We have two boys already and this time we are hoping for a little girl ! It's really hard to tell what a woman is going to have . I do feel a lot different this time , so just maybe it will be a girl :)

I'ts all just a game. only the ultrasound can tell you a baby's gender for sure. I'm 4 months pregnant with my 1st. ALL the predictions above say girl for me, and I really hope it is a girl. But I'm not gonna get my heart broken. I will be fine with either.

I know I'm having a girl this time around. I too believe God puts it in your heart what your having, like with my son, I wanted a girl so bad but I knew I was having a boy. HAHA, I like your examples of 'old wives tales' - carrots contain a vitamin called carotene that is used to make the rods in the eye which help you see in dim light. As for 'no swimming after eating' for the body to efficiently digest food, it works best if you aren't doing some kind of exercise - you have a greater chance of getting muscle cramps because instead of only the digestive system or your other muscles using energy they both are!

Okay for me those things were totally wrong. Going off the symptoms and the prediction chart I should have had girls with each pregnancy. I had two boys and I'm on baby number 3 and I'm just assuming its a boy.

True that none of these silly symptoms really mean anything, even the ultrasound technician can be occasionally wrong , especially if they say its a girl. I do believe ,however that God puts in your heart what your really having. i have 3 girls. Each time I would have loved to have a boy, but in my heart I knew each one was always a girl. and I love them all! =)

My husband and I aren't finding out what we are having. I think it's fun to read and guess what the baby might be. We don't care either way, so these types of things just make it fun! You can't take them serious.

I have to say my doctor said to watch out of these kind of things! It doesn't matter how you carry, or what you crave. My doctor calls these MYTHS and said that if we believe in them we will only be disappointed by what we are told! What if all the signs that say you are having a boy turns out to be a girl or if all the signs say you are having a girl and its a boy? Best Bet is to wait until you have your ultrasound to confirm what you are having!! Don't go by these Myths!

Don't set your heart to any of the information you get from old wives tales. According to the Chineses calender that everyone I knew swore by, said I was having a boy. My ultrasound confirmed I was having a GIRL. Also, my body is half and half with the descriptions above. I'm carrying my baby to the front like a boy, but like I said it's a girl. Best advice: Have fun with the old wives tales, but wait till the ultrasound before you celebrate.

i did the the chart thing in my last preg n guess wat it was rite.. i had a girl ..now it says a girl again...but the body changes r totally different.during last pregnancy my skin broke i vommitted the whole 9 months..luvd icecreams n sweet stuff..in short i waz a total disaster..means ugly.not at all graceful..but now its totally different.i luv leeping on my right.luv salty food.but its not a boy..so ostill dont know..fingres crossed...

I dont belive there is any tell-tell sign of what the gender of the baby might be. When I was preg with my first child every sign, test, quiz I took said I would have a girl! I carried like it was a girl and the heartbeat was suppose to indicate it was a girl, but guess what? I have a happy healthy 3 year old boy! I am now preg again with my second child and I am just waiting until the ultra-sound!

Ok lol I took this before I knew and I took it again after and both times it was right I am having another boy!!!! Even though both pregnancies have been WAY different!!!

Don't belive this chart!! I deeply belived that I was having a boy because the chart said I was, when I went in for my ultrasound it shows I'm having a girl. I was really upset because I really firmly belived I was having a boy. Next time I will not play this game. beware it is not accurate.

The Chinese calendar was right for me the first time. I had a girl as predicted. I am nine weeks pregnant now with number to and it is saying girl again, so I guess we'll see! I guess having another girl wouldn't be so bad as we already have so much girl stuff. My husband wants a boy though of course!

i have 1 son- carried all out front, 140 heartbeat, the chinese thing was accurate, but i puked my guts up. now i'm preggo again- the heartbeat is 169 and the chinese chart says boy. either way it's fun, it keeps you from worrying your kid's going to have 2 heads for awhile, and you have a 50/50 chance of being right.

im craving EVERYTHING!!! especially sweet stuff i do believe in these myths because i do and feel most of these things like my skin breaking out,sleeping on my right side, and one boob is bigger than the other!!! but im hoping for a girl! all the signs r pointing that way!

Wow. My body must be way off. Everything that is listed above is the exact opposite of what I went through. When I was prego with my son I couldn't get enough citrus fruits, my hands were very soft and he carried very high. Now that I am prego with a girl (20 weeks today) I am carrying really low, I have no nausea, craving nothing but salt and I favor my left side when I sleep. How's that for a prediction? ;)

I had my periond on time but it was a few dats shorter than normal. I have been sick to my stomach and have had slight cramping. I dont expect my period until around april 11. I took a home test 2days ago but it was negative. Could it be wrong?

The chinese chart is not always right. It said last time that I was having a girl and I had a boy. This time it says I am having a boy, so we will see.

ive also heard of going by heartbeat during your first ultrasound, lower the heartbeat better chance of a girl, higher the hearbeat better chance of a boy..sounds crazy to me, every babys heart beat is different

This is my second pregnancy now with my first i had no symptoms, i just hated everything i smelt the same as with this pregnancy, I ended up having a boy my first pregnancy, but I vomitted around my 6th month and 8th month. My sister was the same way in both her pregnancies she had a boy first and then a girl. With her girl she had no symptoms at all. So every pregnancy isn't the same and I feel no one can predict nothing about what you are having off of opinions

I did the chain with ring because it is the only thing I could hang on it goes in a cirle so I guess it says a girl, so I took the same chain with the ring and it swings back and forth. Because it wasn't a string does that mean that it isn't right??? help

the one about dangling a chain with a charm works. i did it formy mom with 4 of her pregnancies and it was right all four times, even after the doctor told her otherwise after her sonograms. I didnt try it with my first, but i am this time!

Sharawhitney I have to ask. I just found out that Im having twins what are your symptoms. I have some of the symptoms of girls like the acne and moodyness and I crave sweet but sour fruit. I have a lot of nausea and I am extremly tired can you help

I think it all depends. My symptoms: acne, craving sour candy, feel clumsy, soft hands, extreme nausea, right side sleeper, carrying low and in front! I am having a boy!

These methods don't work if your having twins, Im having Faternal twins and the predictions say that I could go eather way so mabe they do work and im having one of each
