"Not What I Planned For"

Two weeks before my son, Austin, was born, I sat propped up against a sofa in my doctor's office listening to the Lamaze instructor discuss cesarean sections. As she explained to our class of seven moms-to-be that, according to statistics, at least one of us would require a c-section, I was smugly certain it would be someone else. After all, I was only 30, in excellent health, and my pregnancy had been a breeze. It couldn't possibly be me. But then it was.

My labor started as many do. I woke around 2 a.m. to use the bathroom and my water broke. My husband, Paul, and I resisted the urge to dash to the hospital, and I spent the first hours of labor at home. At around noon, with contractions driving me to my knees every two minutes, we headed out. But when I arrived at the hospital, my doctor determined that I wasn't dilating quickly enough (after laboring for nine hours I was only 5 centimeters along) and gave me Pitocin to rev up my labor and an epidural to manage the pain. I dozed for about an hour, only to be awakened by a roomful of people who were all in a big rush.

My doctor sat by my bedside and calmly explained the situation: My son's heart rate was dropping -- his heart wasn't handling the Pitocin as well as it should -- and his head also seemed to be stuck. My baby was in distress and my doctor wanted to perform an emergency cesarean section.

I have 3 boys and I am pregnant with my 4th and going to have my fourth c-section. I can ease your fears by saying labor is 10x worse! The c-section was so easy on all of my boys. You don't feel a thing during the surgery and the pain medication after surgery ensures you don't hurt afterwards. That's why so many woman have started to ask for a c-section even if not needed. Scary thought, but they aren't as bad as labor I assure you.

I had a C-section with my second child, and it was not fun. He was heads down the entire pregnancy, and then when I went into labor at 38 weeks, his head was up in my ribs. He wouldn't move, either. I was disappointed, but he was born healthy. My recovery was not fun, but I got through it. Two weeks afterward, I was feeling a whole lot better.

I found out that I would need a C Section at 12 weeks due to a serious medical condition I was born with. I'm curently at 24 weeks and to tell you the truth, I'm actually glad I'm having one. I've already been through a bunch of surgery in the past because of the aforementioned health problem, so I know what to expect in that department. Plus, C Sections are really safe now and it's what's best for baby.

To all the women who are scared of having a c-section I am 22 weeks along with my eighth child and all of them have been c-sections as this one will be also. I had to have the first one when I was only fourteen because my son was breech,I was scared to death, but it turned out ok and the more you have the easier it gets. It's really not that bad I promise if it were I wouldn't be doing it 8 times.

I was like but thats surjery and your gonna cut me open with a knife. But it was quick I was recovered and back to myself within about a week. With my son it was scheduled and it was a breeze he was born I was given a spinal ow that hurt but it is like getting stuck with needles like six times in the spine so it is normal. After I was fine.

I have 3 children who were delivered by c- section. My fourth child due in Nov. will also be delivered by c-section. I can assure anyone that more than on section is safe.My dr.told me that my pelvic bones were too small and the baby's head would crown but not fit through the birth canal. I felt safer delivering by section the next 2 times and I actually healed quicker with my 2nd and 3rd child than I did with the first.

I am 25 weeks pregnant and I have known since b4 I got pregnant that it would be a c-section as my previous 2 were. I had trouble with my 1st (preeclampsia) so I had to have an emergency c-section. I also have trouble dilating so my 2nd was a c-section planned in the last trimester. This one will be my third and last but I have every faith in the doctor performing the surgery. It is totally worth it to know that my babies will be delivered safely.

It scares me knowing I have to have a c section I'm at 28 weeks now. but I look at it like this its more likely to seriously hurt me and higher risk of harming the baby then to do it naturally. So that eases my mind a little bite every new mother will feel that way I leant so I can relate to you this is my first time pregnant. Scars dont scare me as bad as knowing its th only way to keep my baby and I from harm or live long troubles.

Bless you for your heartfelt account. I am high risk due to my age, but everytthing has gone wonderful. However, I am 29 weeks and each sonogram shows a breech healthy boy. I know chances are good that I will face a ceseraian, but i am hoping for the best. Thank you for your positive report as it relieves a great deal of the fear I am feeling. Bless you

ScarAway silicone scar sheets can help flatten, soften and fade away an old scar or can help prevent scar tissue from forming. I LOVE this product. P.s. I also breast fed and did not want to use any over the counter cream with drugs in it...my doctor said those types of scar products are really just moisturizers anyway. So glad I found ScarAway scar treatment for C-section scars. :)
