Checklist: When to Call the Doctor During Pregnancy
Call your doctor immediately if you experience:
- Moderate to heavy vaginal bleeding
- Any type of vaginal bleeding accompanied by fever, pain, and/or chills
- Severe or persistent headache, particularly if accompanied by fainting, dizziness, and/or blurred vision
- Painful urination
- Moderate to severe bouts of pelvic pain
- Any persistent pelvic pain
- Pain with fever and/or bleeding
- Vomiting accompanied by fever or pain
- Vomiting several times in one day
- Chills or fever higher than 102 degrees
- Steady or heavy vaginal discharge of thin fluid
- Sudden swelling of hands, feet, or face
- Dim or blurred vision
Call your doctor within a day if you experience:
- Moderate, persistent headache
- Any vaginal spotting or bleeding that lasts more than a day
Tell your doctor at your next prenatal checkup if you experience:
- Slight spotting that goes away within a day
- Occasional twinges or pulling sensations in your abdominal area
- Occasional mild headaches
