Introduction

Diabetes affects eight million American women and it's growing in epidemic proportions: According to the American Diabetes Association, the number of diabetic Americans leaped 50 percent between 1990 and 2000.

If diabetes is left untreated, the consequences are blindness, kidney failure, and limb amputation are just a few of the potential health hazards. And if you're pregnant, your baby can suffer healthwise too. The good news? If you get the proper medical treatment, neither you nor your baby has to suffer from this very serious -- but very manageable -- disease.

I am 28 weeks pregnant and just had my glucose test done, I have gestational diabetes, anemic, and i had a osteoporosis done and i have to take a full body scan after my pregnancy. I have a 13 year old and twin girls that are 7, this pregnancy is by far the worst one i have had. I only have a month and a half to go and i cant wait to feel normal again. I am hoping everything turns out ok with the c-section and delivery. Wish me luck. Worried mom
