Benefits of the Buddy System

Staying motivated to exercise every day can be tough, especially when you would rather be lying on the couch than jogging on a trail. One great way to stay motivated is to exercise with a buddy who shares your desire to get moving regularly. Research shows that people who exercise with a buddy are more likely to stick to their fitness regimen, probably because it's harder to skip your workout when you know someone is waiting for you.

The best exercise buddy is one whose fitness level is about equal to yours. Why? Someone less fit will slow you down, while someone who's much more athletic than you may unknowingly cause you to push yourself too hard.
