Uterine Fibroids

These noncancerous growths in the uterus seldom cause trouble during pregnancy. One in four women has them, but because the fibroids are so small, most of these women have no symptoms. When fibroids grow large, or when there are many of them, problems such as pain, changes in menstrual cycles, and infertility can occur. If you have a history of fibroids and begin to feel unusual pain or pressure in your abdomen, call your doctor. In rare cases fibroids can cause miscarriage or other pregnancy complications.
