Longing for One More

Q: My husband and I have two children: a boy, 5, and a girl, almost 3. We're thinking about having another baby. I would love to, but my husband thinks we already have our plate full juggling work and our current family. We've never put as much thought into having a child. Is this normal?

A: Having another child is a big decision -- and should be.

My position is that the partner who wants the least amount of children has the last say. So if your husband has truly decided he doesn't want more (as opposed to being "on the fence"), I would say count your blessings and move on. If he's on the fence and you really want another, give the decision time. The last thing you want is to have him resent you (and perhaps the child) for having a baby he didn't want to conceive.
