Signs of Pregnancy/ Am I Pregnant?: Our OB-GYN on Missed Periods

I am just over three weeks late for my last period. We are trying to get pregnant so I got pretty excited. I did two home pregnancy tests about six days apart. I also went to my doctor and had a urine test done there. They were all negative. The doctor sent me for an ultrasound, which didn't show anything significant. If it's not that I am pregnant, what could the other possibilities be?

It's not unusual to miss one period, even for a woman whose cycles are usually like clockwork. The most common culprit is stress. If you're feeling anxious about trying to conceive, that could be a factor. I know everyone tells couples on the road to parenthood to "just relax," but that's easier said than done, isn't it?

Make sure you and your partner continue to live your lives as you try to conceive. Spend time together and time with friends. Don't let trying to conceive take over your lives. Reducing stress is good for you both.
