A pier crabbing class at Fort Point National Historic Site, underneath the Golden Gate Bridge, proved a highlight of the Moraw family's San Francisco vacation. "For two great hours, National Park Service staff taught us how to use the nets, discussed the types of crabs found in the area, and let us try our hand at tossing the traps into the bay," says mom Elizabeth, of Holland, Michigan. "The kids, then ages 10 and 6, were pulling up crabs left and right. With each new catch, they'd run over to the posted signs to determine the variety. We even pulled in a couple of other sea creatures the ranger helped us identify." Select Saturdays in spring, summer, and fall.
