2/17/2010 03:31:33 PM Report AbuseMy child was always joyful when his needs were met. We moved to a fast-paced neighborhood. He really flipped his lid with that X-box which we never wanted. Outside influences multiplied like rabbits and he turned into a demon. He turned a bit nicer lately but we are hoping for a return to his earlier, wonderful days. :)
1/15/2010 10:09:04 PM Report AbuseI too think we get way too carried away with over-protecting out kiddos. As a teacher, it blows me away how too accomodating we are to our kids and their needs. I definitely feel this has a direct correlation to the level of repect kids show adults--including their own parents!! I have to frequently remind kids in my class that I will not induldge them the way they are used to from Mama at home!! My own kids are in bed by 8:00 as well...what a blessing!!
1/8/2010 07:31:07 PM Report AbuseAs a french-canadian in the u.s. I really enjoyed your article "French Lessons". I often question myself about if i'm raising my child the right way. This article show me that it's okay to adapt my parents skills to my environment wihtout forgetting where I'm from and not care about what people might think. Stepanie B-H, california
1/4/2010 02:07:28 PM Report AbuseAs a French mom in the US, I really appreciated the article "French Lessons". It's easy to get caught up in the American way of parenting -and there is nothing wrong with that, but the article reminded me that it's OK to relax too and that kids can be raised in many different ways that is good both for them and their parents. It's good to put things in perspective and the French way of parenting makes for more capable children and saner adults.
12/22/2009 10:18:15 AM Report AbuseI was thrilled to see the article "French Lessons"! As a mother who does her very best to follower her gut, listen to the needs of her baby and still keep the spark alive in my marriage it was encouraging to learn that a whole country has learned how to parent by trusting themselves and not every word written in a baby book. Thank you for freeing moms like me to parent as we see fit and not let our children take over our lives, but happily integrate them into a life we've already begun to build!
