Ever wonder how scientists study child development? Me too. So I volunteered my 14-month-old son for a few experiments. The results will help researchers (and plenty of curious moms and dads) better understand how babies learn to walk, talk, and think.
No one wants to spend their vacation in bed or ministering to a queasy child (or partner!) while you could be having fun. Take this advice from Mark Wise, M.D. author of The Travel Doctor: Your Guide to Staying Healthy While You Travel, to make sure your trip will be smooth sailing.
I use the word so often it's lost all meaning to my kids. Can I set limits without being so negative? I'm about to find out.
Hatch an egg hunt in your backyard, and watch your little bunnies scramble to fill their baskets. It'll give them an appetite for our special (yet simple) Easter breakfast.

6/14/2010 05:32:24 PM Report AbuseI am a toddler teacher and i recently read the article When your child just cant go while waiting in a hair salon. This was a great article and i feel it would be very helpful to a parent in my classroom. Does anyone know where i might be able to find a copy of the article or a copy of the April 2010 issue. Thanks for your help. You can email me at cheeburgergirl05@hotmail.com if you have any helpful tips for me .. thanks so much :) Jennifer
5/14/2010 08:21:43 PM Report AbuseDid anyone try the pink and yellow cookie recipe in this issue? I made the dough and it was VERY watery. Any advice?
4/20/2010 12:37:13 PM Report AbuseI liked what Joel said. We had double income, now just getting by and budgeting all the way. It is working month by month. There are ways to get around the things that we used to take for granted. For example, instead of hiring a muralist for our kids rooms we painted huge floor to ceiling murals. We put our art on transparencies and then used an overhead projector then we all traced and painted. Now you can go to our website and see how we did it!! www.2stepwallart.com Enjoy!!
4/16/2010 07:08:19 PM Report AbuseI can see bridgett77's point but coming from a woman who's family makes around $40,000 or less a year, budgeting saved our lives! Budgeting showed us how much we do have and how to use it wisely. We have enough to save and pay our bills and get groceries. It takes time and commitment but I think you might be surprised by the outcome!
4/14/2010 01:55:06 PM Report Abusei wanted to copy the pictures from the "Totally Toned in 10 Minutes article and print them on a cheat sheet that i could put up on the wall to make it easier to remember what exercises to do but you don't have it online that I can find. Please post it so we can use it!
4/14/2010 01:52:34 PM Report AbuseI read the article "When You Child Just Can't Go" and want to say THANK YOU!! My daughter has struggled with constipation even before we potty trained and I was elated to learn I'm not the only one out there!! She's potty trained now, but has been on Miralax for eight months. I told my husband, "you need to read this because it's exactly our daughter!"
4/7/2010 04:26:05 PM Report Abuseadd the / where's the article about constipation in hard copy, though. THANX
4/7/2010 12:09:21 PM Report AbuseI am insulted by the article "End Money Fights". Do you realize fights happen when there isn't enough money? Most families I know make $40k-$60K! How many of your readers are on unemployment?! How many families have to pay bills late to have money for groceries?! How many are drowing in debt?! Shame on you Katrina Brown Hunt, you need a reality check! Why doesn't Parents do a poll to see what all famillies incomes are?!
3/28/2010 04:26:14 PM Report AbuseI liked the article, "End Money Fights," and, like the other comment on it, think that it should reflect a range of incomes. We make about half of what the couples in the article make. I stay at home with our 3 kids, and we make it work without stress. While I like some of the tactics outlined, it just seems ridiculous that someone making twice as much as we do couldn't find money to save in their budget.
3/24/2010 06:17:26 PM Report AbuseAbout your article, "End Money Fights": I noticed that none of the couples made below $75,000 per year. I don't know for sure, but it seems like that's not entirely reflective of many parents in these days, my husband and myself included. Maybe I'm being cynical, but it seems like it'd be a bit easier to not be as uptight about money when you're more than 3/4 of the way to 6 digits per year. Maybe next time, you can interview couples who make less than $50k or $60k per year.
3/15/2010 03:17:26 PM Report AbuseJust read the article "Feeling Groovy" in the April 2010 issue. I must say I was a bit disturbed by the entire thing. Touching and exploring may be natural and common, but to define is a (the "M" word) is quite offensive. Looking at the definition for that word, children, especially of that age, are not acting upon it in that manner. Very offended Parent Mag.
3/15/2010 11:58:14 AM Report AbuseThe little girl on the April cover is so cute. I know her parents must be very proud. They are truly blessed to have such a pretty little girl.
