Fine lines: Even if you were vigilant about applying sunblock to your face all summer, crow's feet -- the tiny lines that form around the sides of your eyes -- become more prominent this time of year, says Ranella Hirsch, M.D., a dermatologist in Boston. Two reasons: You tend to squint (which stretches skin) even with sunglasses, and most people don't extend their sunscreen application all the way to the eye area.
Redness: Postsun flush is totally different from the type of redness you may be seeing on your face and cheeks now. After a summer outdoors, facial capillaries can become inflamed and dilated. What's more, sun exposure can cause rosacea to worsen, even in the mildest of cases, says Jeannette Graf, M.D., a dermatologist in Great Neck, New York.
