In the December 2007 issue of American Baby, we asked you which of these holiday film stars became a daddy first in real life: Tim Allen, Will Ferrell, Tom Hanks, or Jim Carrey?
ANSWER! Tom Hanks
Tom Hanks, who starred in the 2004 movie adaptation of The Polar Express, has a son, Colin, who was born in 1977, making Hanks the first dad in the group. Colin and his sister, Elizabeth, were born during Hanks' marriage to the late actress Samantha Lewes Dillingham. Hanks also has two sons, Chester and Truman, with current wife Rita Wilson. The Academy Award-winning actor is one of only two leading men in history (Tom Cruise is the other) to star in seven consecutive $100 million blockbusters.
Tim Allen
Comedian-actor Tim Allen -- a.k.a. Santa Clause and Mr. "Home Improvement" -- has one child with ex-wife Laura Deibel, daughter Katherine, born in 1989. Allen married actress Jane Hadjuk in 2006. This year, he will be working on Brothers, a comedy about two adopted, racially different siblings.
Will Ferrell
Who could forget tall, beefy Ferrell playing a grown Elf roaming the streets of New York? The goofy Saturday Night Live performer, who now commands a cool $20 million per film, has two little boys with Swedish actress Viveca Paulin: Magnus and Mattias.
Jim Carrey
Carrey, who has played the Grinch, is dad to daughter, Jane, born in 1987 while he was married to Melissa Womer. Jenny McCarthy, who Carrey has dated since 2005, has frequently praised Carrey's help and support in raising her autistic son Evan. Carrey has made millions laugh till it hurts in comedy classics such as Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber, and Liar Liar and has proved an equally adept "serious" actor in films like Man on the Moon and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
