In the July issue of American Baby magazine, we asked readers which "Bond girl" most recently gave birth: Halle Berry, Teri Hatcher, Denise Richards, or Michelle Yeoh.
Turns out that Richards -- or, nuclear weapons specialist Dr. Christmas Jones, as she played in The World Is Not Enough (1999) -- gave birth to a daughter, Lola Rose, on June 1, 2005. (Ex-husband Charlie Sheen was with her in the delivery room.)
"Lola" -- which ranges in meaning from "strong woman" to "cloud" to "sorrowful" -- sure is a popular moniker these days. Celebs Kelly Ripa, Carnie Wilson, Jennie Garth, Chris Rock, and Madonna all call their little girls Lola.
Teri Hatcher, final Bond Girl Paris Carver in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), welcomed a daughter, Emerson Rose, into her family on November 10, 1997. Emerson means child "of the industrious ruler," according to Bruce Lansky, coauthor of The Baby Names Survey Book (Meadowbrook Press, 1998).
Lansky notes that a common trait associated with the name (traditionally used for boys) is that Emerson "is described as a tall British Secret Service agent who has plenty of savoir faire." Fitting? We think so!
Neither Michelle Yeoh, who played Wai Lin in Tomorrow Never Dies, or Halle Berry, aka Giacinta "Jinx" Johnson in Die Another Day (2002), have biological children. Berry adopted the daughter, India, of husband Eric Benet in 2001; Berry and Benet have since divorced, but Berry remains close with India.
And Berry hasn't ruled out becoming a mom again: "I'd love to have a baby, love to be a mom," Halle told EXTRA in May 2005. "And if I don't have one, I want to adopt a child. I really need that in my life."
